What this means
Lemons and limes contain psoralen compounds and essential oils that are toxic to dogs. The peel, pith, seeds, and leaves are especially concentrated. Ingestion causes vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, tremors, and liver damage. The high citric acid also causes severe GI upset.
