Safe — cooked, plain oatmeal is nutritious for dogs.

Cooked plain oatmeal is a good source of soluble fiber and is beneficial for senior dogs or dogs with bowel irregularity. Always cook it with water — never with milk — and serve plain. Avoid flavored instant oatmeal with added sugar or xylitol.
