Green peas (fresh, frozen, or thawed — not canned) are safe for dogs and are used in many commercial dog foods. They are rich in protein, fiber, vitamins A, B, and K, and minerals. Avoid canned peas with added sodium. Dogs with kidney disease should avoid peas due to purines.
