Privacy Policy

We collect three categories of information:

• Search queries. When you check a food or paste ingredients, that text is sent to our servers so we can return a safety result. Queries are logged to improve accuracy and to protect against abuse.
• Email address (optional). If you use ingredient analysis beyond the free anonymous limit, we ask for your email to track your usage. If you subscribe to a paid plan, your email is also used for billing and account access.
• Technical data. IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and timestamps, collected automatically via server logs and analytics.

• To return safety results and ingredient analyses.
• To enforce free-tier limits and prevent abuse.
• To process payments for paid plans.
• To respond to support requests.
• To measure aggregate usage and improve the product.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to train AI models.

We use a small number of third-party providers to operate the site:

• Vercel — hosting and analytics (aggregate usage).
• Anthropic — AI-powered ingredient analysis. Ingredient text you submit is sent to Anthropic’s API. Anthropic does not retain prompts for training.
• Stripe (when enabled) — payment processing. Stripe collects your payment details directly; we never see your card number.

Each provider has its own privacy policy. Using our site means your data is processed by these providers as needed to deliver the service.

We use minimal cookies for analytics and to remember your preferences (e.g. dog size). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

• Search query logs: retained for up to 90 days, then aggregated or deleted.
• Email addresses: retained while your account is active, plus 12 months after.
• Billing records: retained as required by tax and accounting law (typically 7 years).

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@isthissafeformydog.com from the address on file. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are in the EU/UK, you have rights under GDPR/UK GDPR including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA including the right to know, delete, and opt out of “sale” of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We use HTTPS, secure hosting, and industry-standard practices. No online service can guarantee perfect security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by law.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
